U.S. Rubber employees thank local partners for supporting the company’s mission to change lives through second-chance hiring

When he left prison, U.S. Rubber second-chance employee and second-shift manager Carlos Arceo was highly motivated to turn his life around. He made a commitment to himself and his wife and two daughters to do everything he could to build a new life, but he had difficulty finding work because of his record.

Carlos’ luck changed when the staff at the halfway house where he was staying directed him to U.S. Rubber in Colton, Calif. The company’s Bounce Back! hiring program was tailored specially to helping people like him build a successful career in manufacturing custom fitness flooring and acoustical underlayment from recycled tire rubber.

In a new video, he and Leslie Morales, vice president of operations, thank the local partners who work with U.S. Rubber to help make stories like Carlos’ possible, including Goodwill of Southern California, San Bernardino County’s Prison to Employment program and San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. Many formerly incarcerated people leave prison with few resources. These organizations fill gaps by offering food, clothing, shelter, transportation and other essentials to U.S. Rubber employees, many of whom would not be able to keep or get to their job without assistance.
