Installation
and Maintenance Instructions
Tire
Cord Tire Tile is available in 12" x 12" x 3/8"
tiles or 12" x 25' x 3/8" strip.
The tiles
can be installed in either a basic parquet or diagonal parquet
pattern. If a straight pattern is required, strip should be
used.
The strip
can be used as either a border "picture frame" around
the perimeter or a parquet pattern to give the installation
a finished look, or as a pattern within itself. Strip is ideal
for large installations where a straight, end-to-end pattern
is desired.
Installation
Instructions
Caution:
Do not use contact adhesive. See your distributor for the
adhesive recommended.
-
The
area to be covered must be free of dirt, grease, oil,
moisture and wax.
-
Be
sure to mark area to be covered with chalk line or marking
pencil.
-
If
the installation is on a grade, first install vinyl beveled
edging with an adhesive/sealant that is available from
your distributor.
-
Determine
design pattern, "dry fit" tire tiles to insure
proper fit.
-
After
layout has been determined, remove tiles or strip and
spread adhesive with a 3/32" or 1/8" trowel.
Stir adhesive before spreading. Do not let adhesive dry
or skin over. Tire cord tiles can be applied immediately
or up to 30 minutes after application, depending on weather.
Ideal application temperature is 50°F or higher.
-
Remove
white release paper from back of tire tile and lay on
adhesive, pressing down for good transfer.
-
Be
sure to clean up any excess adhesive with xylene or toluene.
-
You
must roll entire area with 100 lb. roller or walk over
area to insure edges are thoroughly glued down.
-
Be
sure to restrict traffic for 12-24 hours.
Maintenance
Instructions
Tire
cord tile and strip require minimal maintenance, even when
used in high traffic areas. To insure maximum life, tiles
should be cleaned and maintained periodically.
As needed,
inside areas should be vacuumed with a brush-type vacuum.
Shampoo as required to remove heavy soiling and restore original
color. Standard carpet shampoo or a mixture of 1 cup liquid
detergent to 1 gallon of water works very well. Tire cord
will not mildew or stain, even if excessively wet. Use a wet-dry
vacuum to speed up drying time.
Outside
areas can be hosed off on a regular basis and kept looking
like new.
To repair
cigarette burns, simply brush with a wire brush. In case of
damage beyond simple cleaning, it is only necessary to remove
and replace the damaged tile or tiles.
To clean
up gum or tar deposits, use lacquer thinner or M.E.K. Use
caution as most of these cleaners are flammable.
